Cool Summer Fun for Your Corgi!

Keep your pup cool this summer with the ultimate dog pool!

As the summer heat sets in, it’s crucial to ensure that our adorable pups stay cool and comfortable. Corgis, with their thick double coats, are particularly susceptible to overheating.

In this newsletter, we'll explore the best ways to keep your dog cool and why a dog pool should be at the top of your summer essentials list!

Yes, their butts float in water… but our pool isn’t deep enough for that to happen.

WHY A DOG POOL?

A dog pool is more than just a way to keep your corgi cool; we recently set up our foldable pool for Sullie and had a blast! She had so much fun splashing around in the water and was super cuddly the rest of the evening.

She kept trying to “bite” the water and was sticking her head completely under the water… Look how happy she is, little rascal!

We highly recommend getting one of these for some backyard fun during a heat wave.

TIPS TO KEEP YOUR CORGI COOL

1. Hydration is Key

Always ensure your pup has access to fresh, cool water. Dehydration can happen quickly in the heat, so keep an eye on their water bowl and refill it regularly.

2. Provide Shade

Create shaded areas in your yard or patio where your corgi can escape the direct sun. Umbrellas, canopies, or even a kiddie tent can provide much-needed relief from the heat.

3. Cool Treats

Offer frozen dog treats or ice cubes made with dog-safe ingredients. These can be a fun and refreshing snack for your Corgi.

Sullie goes crazy for ice cubes, every since a puppy she has been obsessed with ice cubes. Every time I open the freezer, someone is looking at me expecting an ice cube treat.

4. Avoid Peak Sun Hours

Try to walk and play with your corgi during the cooler parts of the day, such as early morning or late evening. The pavement is a lot hotter than you think most times, our shoes provide a layer of protecting that they don’t have. A good practice is to touch the pavement with your hand to check the temperature to avoid burning their paws.

I’ve seen too many pictures of burnt paws so don’t let this happen to you!

5. Invest in a Dog Pool

Our dog had so much fun with our dog pool that we started setting up regularly for entertainment. If Sullie had her way we would set it up everyday, but we have to work our day jobs! She isn’t normally cuddly but after a pool day she was super sweet, highly recommend!
